Kroma
Labs is the R&D and Quality Control/Assurance centre of MetroChem
established in 1990 with a capital investment of USD 1 million
(approx) spread over an area of 6,250 sq ft. Kroma Labs is
recognized as an in-house R&D centre by the Ministry of Science
and Technology, Government of India.
Objectives
- To develop new products and
process for products manufactured by MetroChem.
- To improve the efficiency
of the existing processes.
- To develop process controls
for better quality in production.
- To develop methods by which
waste products of the present manufacturing processes can
be profitably utilized and help to reduce environmental
pollution.
- To develop new analytical
methods for process control.
Kroma Labs is equipped with the state-of-the-art
computerized instrumentation and testing facilities like:
- Data Color International
(DCI) computerized color matching system from USA and Mac
Beth color matching system from UK.
- High Performance Thin Layer
Chromatograph (HPTLC) from CAMAG Switzerland.
- High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph
(HPLC) from Shimadzu, Japan.
- Gas Chromatograph with Mass
Spectrophotometer (GC-MS) from Shimadzu, Japan.
- Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer
from Shimadzu, Japan.
- UV-Vis spectrophotometer
from Perkin Elmer, USA. ·
- Auto Titrator from Metrohm,
Switzerland.
- Printing Table from J. Zimmer,
Austria.
- Horizontal Padding Mangel
from Mathis A.G., Switzerland.
- Various equipments for Dyes
Application including Automatic dyeing machines, Light fastness
testers, washing fastness testers etc.
- Pilot Plant equipped with
R/O unit and Spray Drier.
Milestones
The research carried
out by Kroma Labs enables the Group in sustaining and enhancing
its reputation as the foremost manufacturer of quality products.
It has, to its credit, a number of new products developed
including FC Acid, Acid Black 210, Reactive Yellow 37, Reactive
Blue R (Special), VS pyrazolone and VS Meta base, which were
introduced by the Group for the first time in India. Besides,
Kroma Labs has also developed manufacturing processes based
on ultra-filtration for manufacture of salt free dyes suitable
for making high concentration liquids.
